Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos which include commentary on the depictions of women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency examines the way women are depicted in popular culture. Committed to destroying the stereotypes related to women in popular media, she is also working to address issues relating to harassing women targeted by the media and different classes of individuals online. Holding a master's degree in political and social thought at York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public speaking engagement and has given speech at the TEDxWomen Festival as well as at The United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Since her early years she was intrigued by issues of gender identity as well as feminist ideas. As a student, in 2009 she started her Feminist Frequency website. The ambitious lady planned to launch a web series on gender-based representations in video games and was the subject of a harassment online campaign. But the assault did have been a hindrance, rather it was a boost to her determination as a feminist media critic. To honor the numerous accomplishments she's made to feministism, she's awarded numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her role as a critic of media and founded Feminist Frequency. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit organization that explores the portrayals of women in popular culture of today.
